Bravo Star Jeana Keough Battles On After Completing Radiation Treatment for Tongue Cancer

In a heartrending update, 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' alum Jeana Keough has completed her radiation treatment, but the fight against tongue cancer continues to be an uphill battle for the 70-year-old Bravolebrity. Her daughter, Kara Bosworth, shared the latest health update on a GoFundMe page last Thursday, revealing that the next two weeks will be particularly tough as Keough's body recovers from the combined effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Bosworth detailed that her mother is experiencing painful radiation burns on her neck, which are being managed with medicated cream, and the toll of treatment is evident in other ways too. Keough has been using a feeding tube to maintain her nutritional needs, and though she's stopped losing weight – a significant victory – nausea continues to be an issue. Despite the challenges, Bosworth shared some positive news: Keough was able to take a much-needed sip of water, a crucial milestone that ensures she doesn't lose her swallowing function. The pain associated with this small triumph is immense, as Keough refuses narcotics for relief. Bosworth has returned to Florida to support her brother, Colton, who remains with Keough in Orange County, caring for her throughout the ordeal. Keough's older brother, Shane, and his wife, Francheska, are due to fly in this weekend to lend a hand. As fans continue to rally around Keough, the GoFundMe page has raised over $74,000 as of Monday morning. Keough first discovered a sore on her tongue last year and visited her dentist, who mistakenly believed it was caused by her teeth digging into her tongue. Eventually referred to an ENT doctor, Keough found herself unable to afford the nearly $3,000 biopsy due to the office not accepting her insurance. It wasn't until a family vacation that Bosworth convinced her mother to undergo a biopsy after noticing she was avoiding spicy foods due to discomfort in her tongue. The doctor confirmed the diagnosis of cancer shortly thereafter. Keough has already undergone two surgeries, including one to remove lymph nodes, but treatment had to be paused due to a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) clot and infection in her leg. The reality star also temporarily lost the ability to speak during this difficult period. As Keough continues her battle against cancer, fans are encouraged to join Bosworth in praying for her successful completion of chemotherapy, freedom from the feeding tube, relief from pain, and a swift response to immunotherapy that keeps cancer at bay permanently.
