"Game Changer" Author Stays Cool Amid Casting Controversy for Season 2 of Hit Series "Heated Rivalry"

In a refreshing display of resilience, 'Game Changer' author Rachel Reid has brushed off the early criticisms surrounding the casting choices for the highly anticipated second season of the hit series "Heated Rivalry." On Friday, the exciting news broke that Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie would be joining the cast for the upcoming season. Justice Smith will portray Harris Drover, while Charlie Gillespie will take on the role of Troy Barrett. As of yet, Crave Media and HBO Max have not disclosed official character descriptions for either part; however, in Reid's "Game Changer" book series, Troy is a hockey star who finds himself traded to an Ottawa team after a fallout with a former Toronto teammate, accused of sexual assault. Harris, on the other hand, serves as the social media manager for the Ottawa squad, determined to help Troy assimilate into his new team. Smith and Gillespie will make their mark in "Heated Rivalry" Season 2 alongside series lead Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, who catapulted to fame as Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander in the inaugural season. The first season followed the clandestine romance of two rising hockey stars and fierce on-ice rivals. This isn't the first time a member of "Heated Rivalry" has addressed online negativity from the fandom. In March, Williams and co-star François Arnaud shared identical statements on their Instagram stories, addressing viewers who post hateful comments on their castmates' social media accounts. "Don't call yourself a fan if you share racist/homophobic/biphobic/misogynist/ageist/ableist/parasocial/bigoted comments of any kind," read the posts. "None of us need your hateful 'love.'"
